Studio Recitals

Studio Recitals
Studio recitals and award ceremonies are held twice a year in December and at the end of May or beginning of June.
During award ceremony students are presented with exam certificates and awards from festivals and competitions they have been participating during semester.
For recital program students usually prepare two contrasting pieces that may include duets and ensembles ,such as 6,8 hands and 2 pianos. All solo pieces must be memorized. Ensembles or accompaniments may use the score. Each student receives a gift with his/her name engraved.
Performance dress and etiquette are a very important part of the performance. That why all students are encouraged to dress in formal concert attire. Jeans, shorts or short skirts, sweatshirts, tennis shoes , flip flops etc. are not allowed. Only clear nail polish is allowed for girls.
Usually studio recitals followed by a small reception if the concert venue permits. Studio provides plastic dinnerware, utensils , drinks, some finger food and parents are asked to help to add some variety to the table. A list of finger foods is sent to each family from which they can choose what to bring.
Please feel free to invite family and friends. Video taping and photography are permitted from the sides or the back of the room. Flashlight is not permitted. Students and families are expected to stay until the end of a program. If you absolutely need to leave, do so during applause.
Registration Fee is $25 per student.

Classical Recital
Classical Recital is sponsored by NWSMTA and held every Fall and Spring.
Students have an opportunity to perform and be exposed to classical repertoire. They can listen other fella musicians and maybe discover some pieces they have never heard before.
Students may play one piece or movement no matter how short the
piece is. No repeats for sonatas or sonatinas.
All solo performances are to be from memory. Ensembles
or accompaniments may use the score.
TIME LIMITS:
o Elementary: 2 minutes
o Intermediate to Early Advanced: 4 minutes
o Advanced: 6 minutes
To enter students must have studied at least 6 months with the teacher
entering them and be at least 7 years old on the day of the recital.
Fees are $5.00 for each student or ensemble. No refunds or changes will be permitted after the deadline.

No substitutions or request for changes in the order of the program will be accepted. Students must arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled recital time and must remain for the entire recital or withdraw their entry. As a gesture of
courtesy towards those performing, appropriate audience behavior is expected.
Dress for recital is a formal concert attire. No jeans, shorts or short skirts, sweatshirts, tennis shoes etc. are allowed.
No flash photography will be permitted during the recital. Photographs may be taken before or after the program.
Pop and Jazz Recital
Pop and Jazz Recital is sponsored by NWSMTA and held every Fall and Spring.
The purpose of this recital is to instill an appreciation of the jazz and pop genres by exposing audiences to Blues, Boogie, Ragtime, Jazz Standards, Marches, pop arrangements of Hymns, Showtunes, Folk Tunes, and Rock and Roll.
Original pieces, arrangements and improvisations will be performed. The relaxed atmosphere encourages students of all ages and levels of ability to participate. Students may perform solos, duets, and ensembles.
Each entrant may present one piece. All solo performances are to be from memory. Ensembles or accompaniments may use the score.
